History of Service and Pride
Great hospitals are dynamic institutions that improve the individual's quality of life and the community's sense of pride. Great hospitals are rare, especially those located in smaller communities. Declining reimbursements and increasingly complex medical technologies often limit expert healthcare to only metropolitan areas. Saint Joseph - London is a great hospital located in a small community. This 120-bed general, acute-care hospital provides residents and visitors a full range of medical, emergency, surgical and obstetrical services. Originally founded in 1926 by Henry Vincent Pennington, the hospital was purchased by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1946. In 1998 the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth became part of Catholic Health Initiatives. A number of services and programs are provided by Saint Joseph - London which include but are not limited to:
- Cardiovascular Services
- Pulmonary Services
- Emergency Services
- Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapies
- Pain Management Program
- Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine
- Seton Home Health
