1877 Society
On October 2, 1877, a small group of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, led by Sister Euphrasia Stafford, arrived in Lexington to staff the city's first hospital. Like Sister Stafford, it takes a special kind of individual to be a leader - someone with vision, who assesses challenges and creates innovative solutions. Members of our 1877 Society are leaders who help impact critical areas within the communities Saint Joseph serves in profound and meaningful ways.
