Pharmacy Residency
Thank you for your interest in Saint Joseph East's post-graduate year one pharmacy residency program. Our program prepares its graduates to assume positions in clinical pharmacy practice or proceed into specialty residency training in a focused area of practice. Great importance is placed on the residents' individual goals and expectations, thereby allowing program experiences and assessments to be regularly restructured to keep pace with their development throughout the year. Saint Joseph East is a 215 bed community hospital that offers a variety of rotational as well as longitudinal experiences to help refine in-depth knowledge and skills in independent practice. Rotations are offered in a variety of therapeutic areas and are tailored to the interests of the individual.
Longitudinal experiences are available in drug information, hospital practice, nutrition support, anticoagulation, pharmacokinetics, cardiac code response, community service, medical writing, teaching, and research. A relationship with the University of Kentucky allows teaching experience through precepting of students and participation in a certificate program in scholarship and teaching which exposes residents to teaching philosophies, innovative teaching techniques, and accreditation standards. Residents complete a research project, present findings at regional and national conferences, and submit a manuscript for publication.
Residency candidates should visit the PhORCAS (Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service) website to submit an application. Candidates not participating in PhORCAS may submit a pharmacy residency application along with a personal cover letter, official academic transcripts, and three letters of recommendation by January 11. Upon review of the applications received, qualified candidates will be contacted to arrange an onsite interview.”
I understand that you have multiple residency choices, but if you are looking for a progressive residency program, I would like to invite you to consider the Pharmacy Practice Program at Saint Joseph East. If you have any additional questions please contact me directly. Good luck in your search, and we look forward to reviewing your application.
